The Finishing Touch have long prided themselves on supplying quality decorative mouldings that last and add value to a build. They have now expanded their range of building products to include render and rendering tools. In line with their core values they have sourced render products from suppliers that have a sound reputation for quality, Macrender and iQuip.

The products now being supplied through The Finishing Touch include MacRender (medium), a medium grade general purpose render for application to stable masonry based surfaces such as clay/concrete bricks and aerated concrete blocks/panels, MacRender HBS, a medium grade high bond strength render for application to demanding surfaces such as painted masonry and expanded polystyrene EIFS panels and MacRender Hi-build, a course grade lightweight render for thick section application.  A high performance polymer additive MacBond latex liquid is also available as well as render accessories such as angles, hawks, trowels and floats from iQuip.

It is very important that the footings, construction and structure of a house is sound and built to last. Finishing the build is just as important in terms of the design and look of the home and how it appears on the streetscape. Architectural, decorative mouldings such as parapet moulds, window architraves and sills provide a basic, handsome finish. To create interest and  glamour to the house additional decorative mouldings, such as columns, arches, corbels, quoinings and keystones, provide pizazz and a sense of style. A good render finish is also important and the quality and lasting properties of both the render and decorative mouldings is imperative to ensure satisfaction for the home owner.

Please call Steve De Gregorio on 03 9761 4774 or email sales@finishingtouchmouldings.com.au to discuss your next build or renovation and get a no obligation quote. You can be assured of quality, service and a long lasting finish.

2019 Construction Industry Predictions

30-winmallee-balwynKenny Ingram, Global Industry Director at global enterprise application company, IFS, has gazed into his crystal ball for the construction, engineering and infrastructure industries and made some bold predictions for 2019.

His no. 1 prediction is that 50 per cent of all construction projects worldwide will include modular content by 2022, driven by the growing global skills shortage.

IFS reported that in 2018 they saw four times greater customer activity around modular construction than in any other year before it. Across the globe in all areas of construction (e.g. schools, prisons, hospitals and luxury apartments), 2018 saw modular construction really explode onto the scene.

Mr Ingram predicts that new entrants next year will make modular construction even more essential.

“2019 will see growing numbers of traditional construction companies begin opening modular factories to stay competitive. And more new players will enter the industry – from manufacturing, supply chain and logistics to local governments, banks and insurance companies,” he forecasts.

Due to these companies offering great incentives such as flexible finance and service packages, there will be a huge pressure on building firms to adapt.

“They’ll need tighter control and more adaptability over every aspect of their projects. Proving they can, if necessary, partner up with larger networks of suppliers, offer services and maintenance on assets once built, including equipment hire, and yes, even offer or manufacture some modular units or components,” Mr Ingram predicts.

“It all adds up to an urgent need for better, more integrated digital management of complex, demanding projects,” he adds. *

The Finishing Touch have already adopted this type of construction, with the offsite modular build of lightweight decorative mouldings that are easily delivered to site and attached to the building with the use of the exclusive DAP system.

Finishing Touch Introduces New Adhesive Product

We are so happy with this product that we want all our customers to have it! After five years using the DAP Touch’n’Seal system exclusively we, at The Finishing Touch, have concluded it is the only polyurethane foam product we recommend for our decorative architectural mouldings. It will be available for sale in November through The Finishing Touch and we are currently taking orders.

And why do we recommend DAP Touch’n’Seal? It’s the fastest moulding install method available with a drying and full grab time of only 3-5 mins (depending on humidity levels). Compared to most other polyurethane foam based products, which take 10 mins or more to dry, this is great news for builders where time means money.  And the other alternative, tile adhesive based powders are not really in the race, they are so messy to prepare and take much longer to set.

Touch’n’Seal is versatile too. It can be used for polystyrene foam cladding walls and, because it’s fire rated, it can be used as a gap filler around cables and pipes on building sites. With so many applications it’s a handy system to have on hand, able to be used on wood, masonry, insulating foam boards, metal, plastics and sheetrock.

The system comprises 3 items – Touch ‘n Seal Gun Foam II polyurethane foam, a high-performance, one component, approved Type V Residential Fireblock sealant. Sharpshooter-D Applicator Gun, specially suited for use with Touch ‘n Seal® gun foam products and is the correct one for proper application of the adhesive on architectural mouldings.

And when you’re done Poly Foam Cleaner easily cleans up any foam from hands, tools and applicator guns, dissolving any uncured polyurethane foam. It is important to use this cleaner as it’s  the only cleaner designed for the Sharpshooter –D Applicator Gun, keeping it thoroughly clean so it continues to perform.

As there will be limited supply and this is a popular system, we advise you get your orders in now so you can be sure to receive the DAP Touch’n’Seal system when it becomes available for sale in November.  Contact us to place your order.
