A build of a Post-modern home of 45 squares in East Boundary Road, East Bentleigh has been supplied with lightweight, decorative mouldings from the Finishing Touch. The house has been finished with 19 metres of flatband moulding, model # M29, sized 170mm x 30mm, 18 metres of a larger flatband moulding, model # M27, sized 250mm x 30mm and 18 metres of parapet moulding, model # M23, sized 265mm x 120mm.

In Ross Creek, set in country Victoria near Ballarat, a single storey, older style farm house is being constructed. The Finishing Touch has supplied 92 metres in total of two different sized, custom designed quoinings that have been set in an alternating pattern on the corners of the house.

The larger quoining is sized 300mm x 300mm, the smaller quoining is sized 300mm x 260mm.

The popular French provincial style is the choice for a current build of a two storey, sixty square home in Mornington. The Builder has been supplied with 170 metres French provincial parapet eave moulding, model # M344, sized 345mm x 300mm, 21 metres of parapet moulding, model # EP12S, sized 150mm x 120mm and 30 metres of parapet moulding, model # M258B, sized 265mm x 190mm. The windows will be decorated with 38 metres of window architraves, model # W1100, sized 100mm x 45mm and 60 metres of window sill, model # WS2, sized 130mm x 70mm. View decorative mouldings here.

Recently there has been some demand for flatband mouldings to be used as window architraves. An Owner/Builder who is building a single storey, 45 square, post-modern home in Rose Avenue, Lower Templestowe has requested this style of decorative moulding from the Finishing Touch to be used as a window architrave on four windows. 30 metres of Flatband moulding, model# DGB100, sized 100mm x 20mm together with 4.8 metres of window sill, model # WS2, sized 130mm x 70mm was supplied.

A build is well underway in Charlotte Street, Glen Waverley by a major national builder, who has sourced high quality, light weight decorative mouldings from the Finishing Touch. This 60 square, two storey, French provincial property will have an attractive façade with the addition of 120 meters of large parapet moulding, model # M2585, sized 265mm x 200mm, 19 metres of window headers, model # M24, sized 180mm x 120mm, 67 metres of window architraves (using flatband moulding), model # M120, sized 120mm x 30mm and 19 metres of window sill, model # WS172, sized 172mm x 60mm.

The same major builder is constructing a two storey, 50 square, French provincial home in Matlock Road, Wantirna South. The Finishing Touch have supplied 46 metres of parapet moulding, model # EP12S, sized 140mm x 120mm, 40 metres of architrave, model # M1, sized 110mm x 30mm, 9.6 metres of window sill, model # M13, sized 145mm x 175mm, 13 metres of stringer, model # M22, sized 100mm x 45mm. An arch moulding, 1800 mm in diameter, model # M1, will add further finesse to the façade.

A more modest post-modern, 35 square, single storey property in Warragul has also been supplied with decorative mouldings. Showing the flexibility in the use of these lightweight mouldings 14.4. metres of architrave moulding , model # M1, sized 110mm x30mm, is being used as a stringer whilst 35 metres of flatband moulding, model # DGB1003, sized 100mm x 30mm, is being used as an architrave.

Three post-modern units, each twenty squares are currently being built in Templestowe. They required 151 metres of architraves W1100, sized 100m x 45mm and  67 metres window sill, model # WS15, sized 130mm x 65mm for a handsome finish.

The use of decorative architectural mouldings on a building help create a specific look, whether it be French Provincial, Edwardian, Georgian, Mediterranean, Tuscan, Art Deco or Modern. The columns are made in two halves to wrap around steel or timber posts and come in a variety of sizes to fit columns from 200mm to 450mm.

Window decorations are mouldings that are ever in demand. Window architrave mouldings are used to decorate and highlight around windows, door entrances and garages. They come in a variety of designs and styles and some are even designed to suit aluminium windows.

Window-ArchitravesWB1   Although the mouldings are manufactured in standard lengths up to 3400mm they can be cut to suit specific window sizes to avoid wasted off cuts. Window Headers sit on top of a window, enhancing and augmenting its look. There are two designs to choose from and moulds are shipped in a standard length of 2.4m.  Any custom length can be ordered, however with a maximum length of 3.4 metres.

The Finishing Touch Commissioned For Award Winning Design ‘The Eyrie’

The Finishing Touch were commissioned by Vibe Design Group to supply mouldings for the award winning design for The Eyrie.  The challenge to transform a large, ungainly and unfinished building into a stylish home and quasi gallery was met with aplomb by the designers.

Excessively large, non-functional spaces, an incomplete indoor pool and an ugly stair were particularly challenging.  The brief required the house to have the appearance of the grand home of the local squire from a bygone era. Taking on the brief to create an historical look the designer chose to alter the building in a contemporary way.  The result is an exterior French neo classical façade with contemporary outbuildings that blend with and complement the classical look. The Finishing Touch moulds are an integral design element of the classic façade.

The interior is contemporary with the addition of period features only where they make a positive contribution, with heavily moulded entry doors set into an expansive shopfront-like wall of glass. The overall design is of contrasting styles that work magically together. Exacting standards throughout the project produced high quality finishes by builder Icon Synergy Pty Ltd.

The renovation won a Building Design Award 2013 from Building Design Association Victoria for Residential Design – Alterations & Additions over $500K and an Excellence in Housing Award from The Masters Builders Association for Best Renovation/Addition over $1M.
